What is Coaching?

Coaching is YOUR journey. It is not a counseling or therapy service. It is a client-focused support service designed to accelerate your progress toward your life and business goals. It is about taking action, moving forward and future based. A coach will focus on you 100%, it is an ongoing partnership to help you improve your performance and enhance the quality of your life. The coach’s job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that the client already has. Coaching offers a transformational experience that can empower you in nearly every area of your life.

What you can expect from your Coaching experience?

A coach helps you get clear on exactly what you want to accomplish and assists you in creating action steps to make it happen. The goal can be of a personal nature (relationships, life/work balance), or a business nature (creating an action plan with specific steps, setting reasonable goals and timelines, accountability, etc).

A coach should:

  • Discover, clarify, and align with what the client wants to achieve;
  • Encourage client self-discovery;
  • Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies; and
  • Hold the client responsible and accountable.

What you can expect from your Coaching experience?

Individuals who engage in a coaching partnership can expect to experience fresh perspectives on personal challenges and opportunities, enhanced thinking and decision making skills, enhanced interpersonal effectiveness, and increased confidence in carrying out their chosen work and life roles. Your coach will help you focus on your strengths and move past barriers that are impeding your progress.

What is expected of the client in the coaching experience?

Each client is responsible for taking the steps needed to create their ultimate results. The coach is there to guide, support and assist you to find more effective ways to approach what you do and how you do it to get the results you seek. It is up to the client to be committed to first opening their mind to a new perspective and then to commit to taking the action needed to transform their life.

What are some typical reasons to work with a coach?

There are many reasons an individual or team might choose to work with a coach. Here are just a few:

  • Something is at stake (a challenge, a goal or opportunity) that it is urgent or compelling
    and the individual needs assistance handling or achieving it
  • A major transition in life -Divorce, new baby, new job, moving, end of a relationship
  • There is a gap in knowledge, skills, confidence or resources
  • A desire to accelerate results
  • A lack of clarity
  • Success has started to become problematic
  • Your personal and business life are out of balance and creating negative consequences
  • One has not identified his or her core strengths and how best to leverage them
  • Overall feeling of being stuck or in a fog

Do I have to know exactly what I want?

While many people believe you have to already have a clear goal in mind, this is not true. Part of the coaching process is to help you clearly define and set goals. All you need to know is that you wan to make progress in a certain area of your life or business.  Your coach can help you get on a clear path.

How many sessions do I need?

Every individual is unique. Typically four sessions will allow you to move successfully into the transformation you desire. Some people find that once they try a coach and see how effective it was in helping them, they continue on a regular basis to keep up on achieving their goals.
